Anzac Day 2020
Dear Members and Visitors,
It is with great disappointment and sadness that I inform you of the cancellation of our 2020 Anzac Day Ceremony at the Commando Memorial seat at Martin Place, Sydney. There is no ceremony at our Memorial this year,
please do not attend.
Many of you will already know that the ANZAC Day March we attend as a community, whether we are marching, attending or watching, has been cancelled by the RSL and City of Sydney Council. This is obviously in line with the national crowd gathering guidelines and the response to the SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) virus.
It would be wonderful if you could seek other safer ways to show your respect to our fallen this year. For example, a restricted national ceremony will be telecast from the National War Memorial on television so that you can stay at home and pay your respects.
As a paramedic in an Australian State Government organisation, I implore you to take the virus protection measures seriously as we as a country need to stop the spread and the threat of this virus. Please do not become anxious or fearful and always protect yourself, family and friends. This will pass and we will get through this pandemic with good personal discipline and being sensible.
Our primary concern is for the safety and welfare of our older members. Look after yourselves and your family, and if you are struggling and in need of help, please reach out. Your Association Committee is here to help. You are not alone.
